OOM Killer

It is the job of the linux 'oom killer' to sacrifice one or more processes in order to free up memory for the system when all else fails.

To see which processes were killed by OOM Killer:

$ dmesg | egrep -i 'killed process'

To verify which running processes are candidates for OOM Killer:

$ dstat --top-oom
